Safer Cleaning Products for our Schools
A recent study showed that kids regularly exposed to
the many chemicals found in toxic cleaning products were four times more likely
to suffer from asthma than kids who weren't.
And it's not just the schoolchildren who are at risk.
School employees are exposed, too. The staff who work with cleaning products
have among the highest rates of asthma and certain types of cancer found in any
occupation.
That's inexcusable when we have safe and effective
substitutes for many toxic cleaning products. But lobbyists for the chemical
industry are pushing lawmakers to put off a vote on the bill.
