MASSPIRG calls for free open college textbooks

MASSPIRG called on state legisaltive committee to prioritize free open college text books over commercial digital books with access codes.

MASSPIRG urges Joint Committee on Telecommunications, Utilities and Energy to support  S. 1986/H. 2832 An Act relative to Energy Savings Efficiency filed by Senator Lewis and Representative Cutler and a bipartisan group of 100 legislators. 

The bill updates energy and water efficiency standards for common household and commercial appliances. Efficiency standards ensure that the products we purchase use less energy and water, save money and protect public health.

 

 

MA Senate moves to Get the Lead Out

The Massachusetts Senate passed an amendment to the state budget that would allow up to $5 million to be spent on lead remediation in schools.  

State PIRGs Join National Consumer Lobby Day At Congress

State PIRG staff from around the country joined over 120 consumer advocates at the third annual Consumer Lobby Day today. Meetings with members of Congress and their staffs focused on protecting the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau's structure and funding while also opposing its current leadership's attack on a payday lending regulation drafted by its past director and his team.
