Kirstie Pecci,

MASSPIRG Applauds Appointment of Stephanie Pollack, Secretary of Transportation

For Immediate Release

On January 13, Governor Baker named Stephanie Pollack as Secretary of Transportation. We have worked closely with Pollack, and we applaud Governor Baker’s choice.

Pollack has an encyclopedic knowledge of transportation policy and works as hard as anyone we know. In fact, she is one of the foremost experts on Massachusetts’s transportation system, particularly its finances. Her experience as an advocate, an academic, and an attorney will serve her well, and we look forward to seeing her put her stamp on the Commonwealth’s transportation systems.

Pollack understands that a strong economy, a clean environment, and a just society all rely on good transportation. She is an excellent choice to lead the Massachusetts Department of Transportation to its goal of tripling biking, walking and public transit ridership by 2030 and we sincerely congratulate her.
