Baker signs bill to protect children, families and firefighters from toxic flame retardants

BOSTON--On New Year’s Day, Governor Charlie Baker signed the Children and Firefighters Protection Act into law, reversing his stance on the bill from two years ago.  Parents, advocates, firefighters and legislators applauded the move as a critical step for public health following a year of public health crisis.

Legislature sends flame retardants ban to Governor’s desk...again

The Massachusetts House and Senate passed a ban on toxic flame retardant chemicals sending it to the Governor’s desk just under the wire as the end of the two year legislative session approaches. Firefighters, environment and health advocates and others hailed the bill as a critical move to protect public health and called on Governor Charlie Baker to sign the bill into law.
