Voting Rights Advocates Applaud Bill Passed by Senate; Urge Swift Action

This afternoon, the Senate unanimously passed S. 2755, after adopting amendments recommended by voting rights advocates. The bill would make changes necessary to ensure that our fall elections can remain accessible, participatory, and safe during the COVID-19 pandemic, and to ensure that the kind of administration breakdown that happened in Georgia and Wisconsin this spring does not happen in Massachusetts this fall.

MASSPIRG calls for strong price gouging protections

BOSTON -- The Massachusetts Office of Attorney General held a hearing Wednesday on implementing stronger price gouging protections for consumers. MASSPIRG testified in support of Attorney General Maura Healey’s proposal to make permanent the emergency price gouging regulations put into place at the beginning of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Voting Rights Groups Praise House Elections Legislation That Will Protect Voters

TheMassachusetts House of Representatives passed with overwhelming support a very strong reform to our election laws. The legislation will allow every voter who wants to vote from the safety of their own home to do so. The House has recognized the urgency of passing legislation to help protect our fall elections and moved quickly to help keep voters safe.

Hospital repair professionals: let us fix life-saving devices, ventilators

 

BOSTON--   In an open letter to Governor Charlie Baker delivered by MASSPIRG and signed by 459 hospital repair experts, a plea was made for manufacturers to stop withholding what technicians need to fix medical equipment including ventilators.  The effort is part of MASSPIRG’s  Right to Repair Campaign, which aims to remove unnecessary barriers to repair that drive up costs for product owners and increase electronic waste.
