While we are glad that Fiat Chrysler is paying something for damaging the health of Americans and deceiving customers, this settlement does not go far enough. It neither ensures these violations of the public trust won’t happen again nor makes consumers whole.

Legislature sends Governor Security Breach Bill

BOSTON – Massachusetts residents poised to get new consumer protections against identity theft under a new bill, An Act Relative to Consumer Protection from Security Breaches, HB 4806,  just passed with bipartisan, unanimous votes in both the House and Senate on New Year’s Eve. The bill must be signed by Governor to become law.

Under the wire: Mass. legislature sends bill to Governor’s desk that will protect children and firefighters from toxic flame retardants

On New Year’s Day, in their final acts before gaveling out the 2017-2018 legislative session, the Massachusetts House and Senate enacted legislation to ban 11 toxic flame retardants in children’s products, household furniture and bedding.  Governor Baker must sign the bill within 10 days for it to become law.

Massachusetts agrees to tackle transportation emissions through regional collaboration

Today, Massachusetts joined eight other states and Washington, D.C. to announce that they will create and implement a region-wide policy to curb emissions from transportation, now the largest source of greenhouse gas emissions in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic. The announcement marks the next step in the Transportation and Climate Initiative (TCI) process, and represents significant, bipartisan movement towards eliminating the pollution that is causing global warming and harming public health.
