Get the Lead Out

[Boston] – Reacting to pervasive lead contamination in schools’ drinking water, MASSPIRG and Environment Massachusetts gave Massachusetts a D grade today for policies that do too little to address the problem according to a new national report, Get the Lead Out. The report graded the effectiveness of 32 states’ policies in addressing lead in school drinking water.

In 2018, this epidemic helped spur major recalls, which caused stores and restaurants to toss millions of pounds of meat and produce.  MASSPIRG Education Fund’s new report How Safe is Our Food?, released today, reveals how fundamental flaws in our current food safety system have led to a jump in these recalls since 2013.
