[Boston] – Reacting to pervasive lead contamination in schools’ drinking water, MASSPIRG and Environment Massachusetts gave Massachusetts a D grade today for policies that do too little to address the problem according to a new national report, Get the Lead Out. The report graded the effectiveness of 32 states’ policies in addressing lead in school drinking water.

2017-18 Legislative Scorecard

MASSPIRG’s scorecard graded state lawmakers on a selection of votes and co-sponsorships of public interest bills that would: protect consumers, improve voter access to the ballot, invest in public transportation, promote government transparency, increase renewable energy, protect bees, and reduce solid waste among others.
