Getting Young Voters To The Polls

In 2008, for the first time in 20 years, the number of young voters going to the polls exceeded the number of voters over age 65. Our New Voters Project played a part in making it happen in Massachusetts, helping more than 10,000 students register to vote on Massachusetts college campuses.

Vanishing Voters

A new survey of state laws and election officials shows that, on the eve of the 2008 general election, nineteen states do not have laws, regulations or systems in place to properly implement a federally mandated 90-day pre-Election Day ban on systemic voter list purges. The survey, Vanishing Voters, was conducted during the summer of 2008 by the U.S. PIRG Education Fund.

The 2006 Scorecard looks at the most important public interest votes taken between February 9, 2005 and February 1, 2006 in the U.S. Congress. These votes determined the direction of federal policy on critical issues ranging from environmental preservation to health care to consumer protections.
